T. Patrick Milas Named Director of the Gardner A. Sage Library

Milas

T. Patrick Milas has been named the new Director of the Gardner A. Sage Library and Assistant Professor of Theological Bibliography and Research at New Brunswick Theological Seminary (NBTS). Dr. Milas most recently served as the Academic Technology Librarian for the Princeton Theological Seminary Library at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey.

Patrick earned an AB in Religion from Davidson College, and an MS and PhD in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University. His dissertation topic was: “Information Behavior at Highpath School of Theology, the Research Habits of MDiv and MTS/MA Students, Faculty and Librarians: An Exploratory Study.”

Promotions at the Pitts Theology Library

This summer, two librarians have been promoted at Emory University’s Pitts Theology Library.

Rebekah Bédard has been promoted from Reference Librarian and Outreach Coordinator to Head of Collection Development, Exhibitions, and Engagement. In this role, Rebekah will oversee the development of Pitts’ collections, which includes acquisitions for the circulating collection, periodicals, and electronic resources. She will also lead the library’s efforts to increase the impact of library collections by overseeing special collections exhibitions, outreach programs, and digital projects.

Andrew Keck Named Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives, Perkins School of Theology

We are excited to share that Andrew Keck has been named Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives of Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. Previously the Director of Library Services at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, this newly created position will have Andy working closely with Dean Craig C. Hill to provide leadership and management for school-wide projects and priorities. Areas of special emphasis will include church relations, student discernment related to deacon ministries, preparation of accreditation reports and visits, assisting in the development of grant proposals, and helping Dean Hill with development initiatives.

Anthony Elia Named New Bridwell Library Director

Anthony Elia has been named J.S. Bridwell Foundation Endowed Librarian and Director of Bridwell Library at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, effective June 1. He succeeds retiring Director Roberta Schaafsma, who has served in that role since April 2007.

Elia, Director of Library and Educational Technology at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis since 2013, will be responsible for providing vision, strategic direction, and operational leadership for Bridwell Library. In addition, he will promote the development of collections and oversee the library’s public service and user education efforts.

Cindy Aalders Named Director of the John Richard Allison Library, Regent College

Dr. Cindy Aalders has been named Director of the John Richard Allison Library, Regent College, and as Assistant Professor of the History of Christianity, effective May 1, 2018.

Cindy earned an MCS in Spiritual Theology from Regent College in 2002, a ThM in Spiritual Theology in 2007, and her PhD in History from the University of Oxford in 2014. Her research focuses on the spiritual lives and manuscript cultures of eighteenth-century British women, and her book on this topic is forthcoming from Oxford University Press.

Matthew Baker Named Head of the Burke Library

Matthew Baker is the new Head of the Institutional Member Burke Library at Union Theological Seminary, Columbia University Libraries.

Previously, Matthew was the Collection Services Librarian at the Burke Library, and has held positions at Northeastern University Library and the American University in Cairo. He has a MSLIS from Simmons College, MDiv from Westminster Seminary, and a BA in English Literature from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Christopher J. Anderson Appointed New Special Collections Librarian at Yale Divinity Library

We are excited to announce that Christopher J. Anderson has been named the Special Collections Librarian and Curator of the Day Missions Collection at Yale Divinity Library at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut.

Chris was formerly the Associate Dean of Libraries at Drew University, preceded by his time as Head of Special Collections, Archives, and Methodist Librarian. He also hosted a college radio show and served as the baseball coach at Drew University. He received his PhD and MPhil in Religion from Drew, MSLIS from Syracuse University, MDiv from Asbury Seminary, and BS from Houghton College.

Kristine Veldheer Appointed Library Director of Paul Bechtold Library

Kristine Veldheer has been appointed as the Library Director of the Paul Bechtold Library at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, Illinois.

Kris previously served at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, as Instructor for Interactive Teaching, and at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California, as Head of Public Services and as an Instruction and Technology Librarian.

Evan Boyd Appointed Library Director at United Lutheran Seminary

We are excited to announce that Evan Boyd has been named Library Director at United Lutheran Seminary (ULS).

ULS formed from the unification of two historic Lutheran seminaries in Gettysburg and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Boyd will serve as the first Library Director for the consolidated seminary and will be responsible for both the Krauth branch (Philadelphia) and the Wentz branch (Gettysburg).

Dale C. Dobias Appointed Director of the Spencer Library

Dale C. Dobias was appointed the Director of the Spencer Library at the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.

Dale holds an MLIS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MA in Theology from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, and a BA in Communications and Theatre Art from Taylor University. He has served the Spencer Library for twenty-five years.
