ATLA recently sponsored and exhibited at the Academy of Preachers (AoP): National Festival of Young Preachers in Atlanta, Georgia, from Jan 2-5, 2019. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, AoP’s mission is to identify and inspire young people from Evangelical, Orthodox, Pentecostal, Protestant, and Roman Catholic traditions in the call to gospel preaching.
Margot Lyon, ATLA’s Director of Business Development, attended the festival this year and met more than 100 young preachers from around North America at the events and exhibits table. The Academy is endorsed and supported by fifty Founding Partners, the chief among these being the Lilly Endowment Inc.
Back by popular demand, ATLA also sponsored a workshop led by ATLA member Dr. Sarah Bogue, Head of Research and Access Services at the Pitts Theology Library, Candler School of Theology, Emory University. More than fifteen young preachers attended this session.
Sarah gave an engaging master class titled The Research Side of Sermon Prep, where she introduced attendees to tools and resources including commentaries, lectionary aids, alumni resources, and sermon inspiration to support preaching.
