Retiree Spotlight: Roger Williams

The ATLA Endowment Committee presented an update on the ATLA Retirees and Lifetime Members at the 2016 ATLA Annual Conference. This Newsletter series will recap what they shared.

Roger Williams joined ATLA in 1974 and has been a Lifetime Member since 1996. During his career, he served as a librarian for 24 years and as a pastor in the Church the Nazarene for 20 years. He has been living happily in Sun City, AZ, since retiring 21 years ago.

As a librarian, he served three years as Circulation Librarian at Point Loma Nazarene College (now Point Loma Nazarene University) in San Diego, CA, followed by 21 years as Library Director at Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, CO, although his last eight years he served as Computer Systems Manager.

Roger was born in January 1928 and is now 88 years young. He and his wife, Janet Smith, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in August 2015. The photo he sent is of them “enjoying dessert on anniversary celebration at the Empress Hotel in Victoria BC.”

He would like to add: “It has been a wonderful journey. God has led us all the way! God is good – all the time!”
